I agree, it was a pleasure to work on these pages. They were also lovely paper (and the title of the book was My Brother Jonathan which appealed to Alice).
Gosh, having now got the book in my hands I can see these spreads for real..they are glorious Elizabeth and oh so well worth the wait..really fabulous work..Laura will be delighted I know :)

Good to hear from you, Kari. My sister and I used to play with pennies at my Welsh grandfather's when we were young so I've always been attached to pre QE2 coins. A few weeks ago I was helping a technically elderly friend (but as young as me in spirit) to tidy a drawere and she said nobody would want her collection of old coins. Ha ha.
Although I am choronolgically 48 I'm only about 9 in maturity, but I am glad I remember pre-decimal Britain.
I remember the change-over and being terrified I wouldn't be able to understand it. Now I look back, I wonder how we understood £ S D !!

We had a chart in our classroom so that we would be able to convert the prices afterwards - and then everyone was amazed how the nation just took to it, and spent without difficulty. Very occasionally I convert bsck and express my horror at the price of something. It's always good to buy a paperback and see 2/6 - books were super value then.
